Today’s Oracle:

“Real, sane, mature love—the kind that pays the mortgage year after year and picks up the kids after school—is not based on infatuation, but on affection and respect. And the word “respect”, from the Latin “respicere” (“to gaze at”) suggests that you can actually see the person who is standing next to you, something you absolutely cannot do from within the swirling mists of romantic delusion.”–Elizabeth Gilbert, “Committed”

Lately I’ve had the sensation that God is watching me. Not just watching, but testing, challenging me to be my best. Just last week, as you read in “Oops”, I got reminded that I am human. But these days when I make mistakes, I am able to come back to myself more quickly, to remember my center as a spiritual being. I’ve learned so much in the last several months about love, about what it is, and what it isn’t, for me. I think I used to be so sure that if I wasn’t swept away by love, then it wasn’t real. But I see it differently now. I truly believe that REAL love is both passionate AND calm at the same time.

I’ve had glimpses of this combo, and it makes me hungry for more. But the path of desire is tricky. If I get too fixated on my desire for relationship to look a particular way or be with a particular person, it pulls me off my path, leading my astray into a place where I am no longer in flow with Spirit. And then things start to feel, well, WRONG. In contrast, A HEALTHY love puts me even more strongly onto my center, because it is an affirmation of my essence, of who I am at my core. A healthy love nourishes and energizes both partners. And this calm connection can INCLUDE passion. Just as I worked with my energy body for years to fully open to tantric connection, now I am working with my EMOTIONAL body to open, to become more vulnerable, naked, and available to connect to another in both ecstasy and stillness. In conceiving of such a possibility, I know it can manifest. And that is an exciting future to consider…
